        1. SOLD OUT SOFTWARE QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE

Loading computer games can sometimes be a daunting task. We
here at Sold Out Software try to make the installation of
our games as quick, simple and effortless as possible. To aid
yourself in the installation of this piece of software it
is helpful that you have at hand certain bits of information
regarding your system set-up.

1. The drive letters associated with your machine:

All computers have letters assigned to different drives. By
default your 'floppy' drive will have the letter A:\ assigned
to it , your hard drive will be C:\ and your CD-ROM will be
lettered D:\. If, let's say, you have more than one hard
Drive then it is most likely that the second hard drive
would be D:\ and your CD-ROM would have E:\ assigned to it.

To avoid confusion, it is recommended that you familiarise
yourself with the letters assigned to your computer's drives
before trying to install your game. To do this, click on the
'My Computer' icon on your Windows desktop with your right
mouse button and then select 'Explore' with the left mouse
button. The left-hand window will contain all your drives
and applicable letters.

2. When we specify 'default directory' it means the
directory and drive that the game installation has been
pre-set to install to. You may change the installation
directory if, let's say, all games are installed to a
directory called 'Games' on your system.

I have a 32x CD-Rom drive and am having trouble reading my
Tomb Raider 2 Gold CD

There currently is a problem with Tomb Raider 2 Gold running
with 32x CD-ROM drives.
We are not aware of any fix for this issue. Core Design is
working on a solution but as of yet we have nothing to
offer you.
There is one possible fix however that we just became aware of.
If you are running your CD-ROM as an SCSI CD, contact your
hardware manufacturer and get your CD-ROM to run through IDE
mode. Contact us please if this does or does not solve
your problem.

If you happen to have previous CD-ROM drive that is slower it
is recommended that you reinstall this and you should be
able to the play Tomb Raider 2 Gold with no problems then.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing you.

I get an extremely slow frame rate with I play the game,
like 1 frame per sec.

Try downloading the TRII Patch. It is intended to resolve
the CD problem some users are having when the CD is being
accessed continuously, which reduces the frame rate
dramatically. This patch addresses no other issues and
therefore we recommend that you install this new executable
only when experiencing this problem. To get the patch and
learn more please See patches above.

I am having trouble with Tomb Raider reading my CD-Rom and
I have a multiple CD, CD-Rom drive.

If you have a computer system with more than 1 CD-ROM drive,
or a CD changer - Tomb Raider II runs most efficiently when
the TRII CD is in the first CD-ROM drive. The game will run
in any of the CD drives, but you may not get redbook CD
audio, and you may experience some slowdown. Depending on
your hardware configuration, the game will sometimes try to
stream data from the primary CD drive. In order to get the
best performance, we recommend using the first occurring
CD-ROM drive (or slot if a multi-changer) with Tomb
Raider II.

TRII couldn't find installation language, and shows an Error
105 message.

TRII couldn't find installation language, and shows an Error

Your CD-ROM may be running a Real Mode DOS Driver. To check
this, go to the Control Panel, look under Systems, then under
Performance Status. If it shows something other than 32 Bit
for File System, consult your hardware manufacturer to
resolve this.

I keep getting cannot find dinput.dll error when trying to
run TRII.

You need to (re)install the latest version of DirectX 5.0
onto your machine. You can find this the latest version of
DirectX 5.0 on the TRII CD in the folder directx. Run the
dxsetup.exe. You may be attempting to run TRII ona computer
operating under Windows NT 4.0.

TRII is showing a Fatal Exception Error message.

Try reinstalling DirectX 5.0, and answer Yes to every prompt.
If problems persist, consult your hardware manufacturer. You
may need to update the drivers for your sound card and video
card.

I keep getting a Runtime C++ Error when trying to run TRII.

You need to (re)install the latest version of DirectX 5.0
onto your machine. You can find the latest version of
DirectX 5.0 on the TRII CD in the folder directx. Run the
dxsetup.exe. Also double-check your system's date. If the
year is incorrect, change it to the current year.

I have a Rendition Verite 1000 and the game crashes out
immediately after the copyright screen has been displayed.

The Rendition Verite 1000 has difficulty the playing Full
Motion Videos and this is why the game crashes out. If you
experience this problem, you can turn off the FMV's in the
game by selecting the Advanced tab in Setup, and checking
the Disable FMV box. If you wish to view the FMV's in ...
