Welcome
o another Nuremberg Toy Fair
has come and gone and what an
event it was! There were some
dramas in getting there this year,
namely an incorrect passport for one of our
team and a missing hotel room, but it was
all definitely worth it as there were some
fabulous models on display, as you will
see in our extensive sixteen (yes, sixteen!)
page report, crammed with many of the
delights on display. Even that number of
pages isn’t enough to share everything, so
be sure to read the News & Events section
too. Personally, I might be bankrupt by the
end of 2015 if I was to buy all the samples
I fell in love with so I’m going to have to be
careful and incredibly selective, not only
from a financial point of view, but I also
need to take into account what can actually
be realistically displayed! I won’t go into a
long list here, because we all have different
tastes in terms of collecting, but let me just
say that I don’t think I would be the only
one in trouble with the bank manager. One
of the other things that I love about being
in the privileged position that I am, is that I
get to liaise with the manufacturers directly
and recently I am very proud to say that I
have personally influenced some production
decisions, all in a positive way of course.
At one end of the spectrum we have the
new reproduction conveyor belts for the old
favourite that is the Corgi FC Jeep conveyor,
which Steve Flowers’ Model Supplies has
just released, and then we have the recent
Hoveringham article (February issue), which
was commissioned by me and has directly
resulted in two upcoming releases from
B-T Models. Then there is an old Panhard
Le Mans racer that will be produced for the
first time, by Bizarre, and now, thanks to a
reader’s letter that I forwarded on, Sun Star
is considering re-releasing its amazing 1/24
scale Routemasters, there may even be
some totally new releases too. Welcome to
Wilson’s World ... living the dream!
