PC Hardware and Software Requirements
and Browser Settings Guide
This document outlines the hardware and software needed to run the Avaya Solution Designer (ASD) and Partner Relationship Manager (PRM) tools.
The minimum recommended PC hardware and operating environment requirements apply to BusinessPartner desktop and laptop computers running Microsoft operating systems. Your Internet access connection speed and other software and hardware running on your PC will have a direct impact on the performance of these new tools.
Additional memory may be needed if a significant amount of other software (such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook and/or IBM/Lotus Notes, virus protection, and other common software) is being used.
· Processor: PIII 733MHz / Celeron 800MHz class processor (or a higher processor)
· Personal Computer Memory: 512MB or higher
· Virtual Memory: 512MB or higher
· Available Disk Space: 400MB to 1GB
· Any broadband connection such as cable or DSL.
· Screen Resolution: 1024x768 with 256 colors (or higher)
Supported Operating Systems:
Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0 with Service Pack 6a and a minimum of 512MB of memory
Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 2 or above and a minimum of 512MB of memory
Windows XP Professional or above and a minimum of 512MB of memory
Supported Web Browsers:
Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0: Internet Explorer 6.0
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional: Internet Explorer 6.0
Microsoft Windows XP Professional: Internet Explorer 6.0
Notes:
· Microsoft Vista operating system is not supported.
· For Internet Explorer 6.0, Java runtime environment is required.
· Netscape is not supported.
· Popup blockers can negatively impact Siebel’s functionality. Many times, turning off popup blockers is insufficient, therefore these need to be turned off and de-installed. After turning off and de-installing the popup blocker, close the browser, relaunch the browser, and relaunch Siebel.
To make changes to browser settings you must have local admin rights.
Once a supported version of the Internet Explorer browser has been verified on the workstation, follow these steps to adjust the security settings to ensure optimal application performance.
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click on the Tools drop-down menu and choose Internet Options.
3. Along the top of the window, find the Security tab and click on it.
4. Highlight Trusted Sites by clicking once.
5. Click on the Sites button and enter https://mytools.avaya.com in the “Add this Web site to the zone” field:
Note: This URL is not the actual URL to the application. It is a site heading only. Clicking on it will not take you to the application.
6. Click on the Add button, then click OK. This will save the settings and return you to the Internet Options window.
7. Click on the Default Level button and verify that the security level is set to Low (slide the bar down to set the level, if necessary):
8. On the Internet Options window, click on the Advanced tab along the top right-hand side of the window.
9. Make sure the Disable script debugging choice is checked.
10. Scroll down to the Security section of the Advanced Tab.
11. You should leave your default check marks in place and additionally make sure the following choices are checked:
Use SSL 2.0 should be checked
Use SSL 3.0 should be checked
Use TLS 1.0 should be checked
12. Click on OK and close the browser.
