Welcome to my
rst issue as editor of Popular
Patchwork, it has been a hectic and exciting month
putting this issue together and I hope you enjoy it.
It was fantastic to meet so many of you at
Festival of Quilts
and thank you for all
your good wishes. I think you are right, I am going to really enjoy being part of the
Popular Patchwork community!
For those I haven’t yet met I thought I would tell you my quilting story. My

background is in printed textiles and I dabbled with stitch, but it wasn’t until a
chance encounter on a dressmaking summer school that I got hooked. I
nished my
garment early, and made a patchwork bag using some vintage fabric I had hoarded.
Something just clicked, and I was well and truly addicted to combining print, pattern
and colour. I spent two years attending a quilt sampler course, and then continued
studying City and Guilds for four years. Since then I have run a quilt fabric shop,
taught classes, designed quilt patterns, written a book and given talks to quilt
groups. I have a great interest in quilt history, and in 2010 wrote a paper called Print
with Print; The Role of Liberty in the post 1960s UK Quilt Revival.
As someone who always has a quilt (or
ve) on the go, I am really looking forward to
