Editor’s letter
supplement that went out with issue 77. I love the shape
of the earrings and I have an image of them on my wall
in my studio. From that image I was suddenly inspired
to make one of those earrings into a silicon mould, as it
occurred to me that the roses would be lovely in silver
clay and I was right! I’m wearing the pendant from that
project right now.
I hope you’ll take away from this issue the idea that
you can take any photo and look at the colours, structure
of lines and shapes or simply the figure in the photo and
create something amazing. If you do then drop us a line

projects inspired by images. I thought it would
be nice this month to ask all of our wonderful
designers to start their project designs with ideas spurred
on by an image.
Taking an image and using it to inspire your projects
is a great way of getting started if you are struggling to
think of a starting point. In this issue, the designers have
included their original image, so you can see where their
inspiration has come from.
An image can inspire you in a variety of ways - take
for example a project I have created for this issue
(p58), where I was inspired by the photo of a pair of
rose earrings that I originally designed for an earring
