Hello everyone, welcome
to the July 2018 edition
of your favourite aviation
modelling magazine!
ast month we took a look at the
brand-new Eduard Fw190A family,
Jamie Haggo completing two of
these stunningly detailed new
kits. This month we are continuing
to do that as both Mike Williams and the
editor complete two more of these kits, Mike
building the A-4 and the editor building the
A-3. We make no apology for tackling more
of these kits, as there are simply so many
of them to have a go at, Eduard electing to
release almost an entire family of ‘190As,
in dozens of different set-ups and colour
schemes. We hope you approve and enjoy
seeing the last two builds — for now — of
this excellent new release.
Along with the homage to all things
Focke-Wulf, we are also stepping back in
time to look at another ground-breaking
German aircraft, this time the enigmatic
Junkers D.1. The first aircraft to enter active
service of all-metal construction, the D.1
has long held a fascination to those drawn
to its pugnacious looks and corrugated
construction. Wingnut Wings’ 1:32 kit
captures this to a tee, so it was not much of
a stretch to see the editor move away from
fast jets for a while to have a go at the kit,
ready for its inclusion within an involved
L
diorama setting next month.
Moving on, we also have two WWII
aircraft builds as Alan Price tackles the
Eduard 1:72 Spitfire IXc Late Version
‘Weekend Edition’ and Iain Ogilvie, the
FROMM-Azur 1:32 IAR-80A. Both of these
features take the reader through a step-by-
step build of the relevant kits, the Spitfire
feature being perfect for the beginner and
the IAR-80 for the more seasoned modeller.
As you can image from the features that we
publish, the results are really rather pleasing
and thus should offer much grist for the mill
for those looking for something new to build.
Airbrushes are a vital part of the
modeller’s armoury, but the vast number of
different tools available can sometimes be
confusing to the first time user. This month
we take a look at one of the best available,
the ‘Procon Boy FWA Double Action
Platinum 0.2’, a cut-price tool that certainly
doesn’t offer cut-price features! Our look at
this excellent airbrush begins on page 28.
AND FINALLY…
We take a trip to the RAF Museum Cosford
to visit the annual Shropshire Scale
Modellers showcase event. One of the
year’s largest one-day shows, we hope that
you enjoy seeing some of the highlights from
the event as much as we enjoyed being
there in person!
