TVonNAV
system – a system that allows you to expand
the use and functionality of your factory Navigation system. We are confident that you
will be pleased with the features and functionality that this solution will bring to your
vehicle. Enjoy!

WARNING: THE VEHICLE DRIVER MUST ALWAYS KEEP THEIR EYES AND
ATTENTION ON THE ROAD AT ALL TIMES. In some states it is illegal to have a TV
viewable by the driver while the vehicle is in motion. It is your responsibility to know and
adhere to all applicable laws and regulations. By purchasing and installing this system
from TVonNAV you hereby agree that TVonNAV, its owners, employees and affiliates
cannot be held liable for any accidents, fines, tickets or misuse of its products which may
result from the driver’s distraction. Use of this product should be limited to and is
intended solely for passenger entertainment and off-road use only.
TVonNAV, defined as ‘the creators, sellers and resellers’ are in no way responsible for
any damage or malfunction, which may occur to your car and/or your car’s electrical
system by installing this unit.
2. CAR APPLICATIONS
The unit is designed for the standard BMW Navigation systems that are based on the
MkII, MkIII and MkIV (“Navigation Computer”). See the website

if you are unsure what type of system your vehicle
has. Other vehicles such as the Range Rover, which are based on the same underlying
system, should also work. Our custom TVonNAV cable module is designed to filter out
the I-Bus speed signal for BMW systems in order to provide TV-in-motion as well as
other custom enhanced capabilities

3. CONNECTING THE VIDEO MODULE & TVonNAV UNIT
For the best protection of your vehicle and its systems it is important that the
instructions documented in this manual be precisely followed. Although not
required, it is recommended that the vehicle’s battery be disconnected prior to
the installation of this system. If after reviewing these steps there are any
questions on how to connect this system, please contact us at
support@TVonNAV.com.
It is recommended that, prior to final installation, you test the system with your
vehicle. You will first want to test the operability of just the Video Module with
your vehicle. Once this has been verified you will want to insert the TVonNAV
cable module to confirm the vehicle-in-motion operation. Follow these steps:
1. Disconnect the battery
2. Remove the Navigation Computer from the mounting brackets and
carefully disconnect the blue connector module (press in on the tab and
swing the rocker mounting connector down towards the navigation
computer to disengage the module)
3. Plug the white connector and the adjacent blue connector on the provided
harness into the video module.

4. At the other end of the provided harness, plug the blue connector into the
Navigation Computer and plug the vehicle’s blue connector into the
corresponding receptacle in the provided harness.
5. Plug the 2 antenna leads into the video module.
6. Reconnect the battery.
7. Turn the ignition key on and once the system boots up, press the MENU
button. You should see TELEVISION as one of the menu items. Select
TELEVISION and the video module should be activated on the screen.
(note: if the TELEVISION option does not appear it could be due to the I-
BUS not recognizing that a video module has been installed. To correct
this, turn off the ignition, close all doors and windows and lock the vehicle.
Wait 25 minutes and then repeat step 7.)
8. Turn the ignition key off.
9. Disconnect the battery
10. Disconnect the vehicle’s blue connector from the corresponding
receptacle in the provided harness and place the TVonNAV cable module
in-line to the connection.
11. Reconnect the battery.
12. Turn the ignition key on and once the system boots up, press the MENU
button. You should see TELEVISION as one of the menu items. Select
TELEVISION and the video module should be activated on the screen.
Test drive the vehicle over 4 MPH to verify that the TV picture remains on.

4. INSTALLING THE ANTENNA
The recommended mounting locations for the TV antenna are as follows:
3-series – mounted in the rear bumper with cables run through the rubber
grommet on the driver’s side above the muffler.
5-series and 7-series – mounted inside of the rear window
X5 – mounted in the rear spoiler with the cables run through the rubber
grommet and down behind the left rear pillar cover.
Extend the antenna leads down to the video module and carefully plug them in.
Once the antenna is mounted, reattach any of the covers and trim that were
removed.
5. MOUNTING THE VIDEO MODULE
On the E38 (7-series) and E39 (5-series) Sedan, remove the CD changer and
locate the empty bracket behind it which will hold the video module, as depicted
below:
