LSA Closure
We have received the following notification
from LSA Models:
“After 35 years working within the retail and
plastic modelling trade in various capacities, of
which 20 of that was running my own business
LSA Models, I have finally decided after a great
deal of thought that the time has come to take
some sort of semi-retirement. Running your
own business is very much a 7-day a week job
and I have been really lucky that modelling is
also my hobby. As you get older when health
issues can start to impact on you I have made
the decision to close the business down and
perhaps now have the time to do some of the
things that I have always wanted to do. LSA
Models has always been a family-run business
and I will now be able to devote more of my
time to them.
I have thoroughly enjoyed running LSA Models
as it has brought me into contact with so
many great customers, many of which have
also become truly good friends of mine over
the years. The last day of opening will be
Tuesday 30th December. As part of a way to
say thank you to our many loyal customers
at the shop, through mail order, or at our
show stands, we will be having a big sale of
our (extensive) existing stock over the whole
month of December 2014. This is going to
be available for visitors to the shop and to
mail order/internet customers, the details of
which are given in our advertisements in the
modelling press and on our web site. There
will be a minimum of 30% off all plastic kits and
accessories with some ranges up to 50% off.
Postage and shipping charges will still apply
and please note it won’t include new releases
due out during this period, so get the bargains
whilst you can! If you can make it down to
our shop in Hove in person, we will be very
pleased to see you.
It won’t be a complete departure, as once
I have more time available I hope to be
able to get down to doing some of my own
research, writing for books and hopefully for
the modelling press. I will also continue to
take in commission builds as required. I won’t
therefore be gone from the hobby entirely, just
not having the constant pressure of running
the shop. I am also looking forward to actually
being able to explore the many modelling
shows that I have attended over the years,
rather than being engaged on the stand selling.

Valiant Wings - New & Future
Valiant Wings Publishing concluded 2014 with the release of their latest titles in the Airframe Album
(Bristol Blenheim) and new Airframe Detail (BV 141) series at the IPMS/UK Scale ModelWorld event
in early November. But they are not sitting back and relaxing, oh no, they are already planning the
next title in the Airframe Album series, which will be the Focke-Wulf Fw 189 Uhu to be perfectly timed
for the newly announced 1:32 resin kit from HpH, as well as for those of you with the excellent Great
Wall Hobby example in 1:48. This will be followed by the second title in the new Airframe Detail series,
covering the Dornier Do 17Z and thus ideally suited for those with the new Airfix 1:72 kit to build. There
are others planned for 2015, but VWP are keeping quiet about these for now! For more details visit

European Air Power
This is a new 296-page hardback title from
Potomac Books which is a detailed study of the
current state of eight European air forces and
their potential air power. The coverage is split
into France, Germany, Turkey and England as
the ‘European’ nations, with Norway, Denmark,
Sweden and Finland as ‘Nordic’ powers, mainly
to deal with their differing operational theatres and
roles. The title is not extensively illustrated, it is a
written study of the current state of air power in
these nations, but it makes a useful guide to what
is where in these regions and therefore may have a
place on the bookshelf of those of you interested in
modern military aviation.
